How the laboratory is funded
Core staff time is carried by the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics. Project work, studentships and infrastructure are funded competitively.
European programmes
Work is under way on a project funded under the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme. Applications to Horizon Europe Pillar 2 are in preparation, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary consortia where demonstrable institutional compute capacity is assessed.
Malaysian national schemes
Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation programmes, particularly where a project aligns with national objectives on AI readiness and sovereign computing capacity.
International health and development funders
Wellcome, UK Research and Innovation and comparable bodies, for the population health and climate strands of the portfolio.
Industry and contract research
Sponsored research and consultancy with organisations that hold substantial data, described on the partners page.
PhD studentships
A funded studentship buys three to four years of concentrated work on a single problem, and is the most direct way to put a question onto the laboratory's agenda. Named studentships can be tied to a theme or to a specific project.
Sponsored research
Industry and public sector sponsorship of a defined research programme, with agreed deliverables, shared authorship and access to the resulting methods and code.
Infrastructure
Compute capacity is the binding constraint on several strands of this work. Support directed at hardware, storage or software licensing translates into work that cannot otherwise be attempted.
Research entity status
The MCCML is established as a research entity of the School of Business under the Monash University Malaysia research entity registration process, within the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics.
